During a trip to UIC (University of Illinois, Chicago), I had a chance to take a look at a haptic AR (augmented reality) system. Here is a technical overview of the system, the Immersive Touch TM. The system consists of two phantom haptic devices, an active stereoscopic display, head tracking, and although the video doesn't show it very well, it comes in a very nice case on wheels that holds the PC and packs up for shipping to conferences and such.
